It all started in 1988. Approx. ten years after a so called “fad “named HIP HOP swept the nation, and eventually the world. In ‘88 three first cousins from ATLANTA, GA decided to try this new form of street poetry. WILDKINGDOM was born. Electing not to take the normal route of saving money for studio time to record a demo, Kinkaid Lee, T.Casino, and Skeet “Stiltz” Barbarini choose to instead buy studio equipment. 10 yrs. later in 1998 WILDKINGDOM graduated from high school, and the sound graduated with them. This is where they went from “boys rappin” to “grown ass men trying to say something.”
Mainly influenced by the southern greats; Outkast, Goodie Mob, U.G.K. 8Ball & M.J.G., Kilo, M.C. Shy D, Raheem, etc.etc.WILDKINGDOM maintains a constant understanding of why rap was created. To give a voice to those who thought they had none. In 2000 Skeet passed away from a long battle with cicle cell enemia. R.I.P. Skeet Stiltz Barbarini. Hurt by the loss, of not only a blood cousin but a lifelong friend, WILDKINGDOM was down to two. The lost gave them a new mental picture, NO GIMMICKS! In present times WILDKINGDOM makes music for those truly in the streets. Noticeably absent is the party sound most groups are manufacturing as well as the bling rap, snap music, Crunk, and super thug.
The goal of the group is to create a new path of HIP-HOP, not saturated with fads and marketing influence. Just pure street music, there is nothing glamorous about it.
WILDKINGDOM will not sacrifice quality for fame and recognition, they will only make quality music for those who choose to use it, but will not cater the music to any interests or fads. Purity is Key, Timeless Music, and Guaranteed Fresh!
